HOBBITS GONE AWRY

HOBBITS GONE AWRY

Bret Clement 2012

Diploid, Dormant, em., 6", 40" Height, 3 Way Branching, 15-20 Budcount.
(Tigereye Spider x Reason For Being)

HOBBITS GONE AWRY is a maroon red self with darker veins and a darker eye with a green throat. My apologies to Curt Hanson for abusing the name of one his cultivars. HOBBITS GONE AWRY is my first introduction that is out of one of my previous intros. The base color is darker than the photo suggests resulting in somewhat less contrast between the petal and eye than the photo suggests. This is one of those whose color leaves you scratching your head wondering where it came from unless you know the grandparents. TIGEREYE SPIDER is gold with a black eye and REASON FOR BEING is yellow. However, if you look up the parents of both you will find that they include BLACK PLUSH (black red) and GRAPEADE (purple) which makes the color more plausible. Its grandparents also include a double dose of KINDLY LIGHT. It sets a few pods and the pollen is relatively untested. Although it did not meet the spider ratio this past summer, I think it very well might measure as a spider under drier conditions, although I base this statement on visual memory rather than actual measurements.
